Rear end noise

2003 Silverado 1500 Ext cab 2 wd 114,000 miles automatic, Just started getting a noise from underneath and at rear of the truck, sounds like a metalic squeak from a stop to low mph, then goes away, rear disc brakes replaced 20,000 miles ago waiting for wife to get home to check rear bearings everything looks ok. Help

my first suspect brakes - did you remove wheel and do a visual?

could it be drive shaft maybe U joint?

how about checking for diff fluid leak- pinion or axel seals?

think easy things first...

I am thinking u-joit...if its like a rotational high pitched squeek...not to bad a job, unless its a two piece shaft..they can be a little tricky for a DIY'er...especially if you have never done one...
i can fix broken, but i cant fix stupid...

It has 2 drive shafts noise coming from carrier bearing where both shafts meet it says that bearing is pressed on any info helpful, also was going to replace just rear u-joint but it looks good

Propeller Shaft Center Support Bearing Replacement

Removal Procedure


Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions








Remove the center bearing by doing the following:
3.1. Stand the propeller shaft (2) on end in the press (1) with the center bearing (3) supported by the press bars (4).
3.2. Press the propeller shaft (2) down and off the center bearing (3).

Installation Procedure









Install the center bearing (3) onto the propeller shaft (2) by pressing the center bearing onto the shaft using a press (1).
Install the propeller shaft. Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions
Lower the vehicle.

If you do decide to do this yourself, make sure to properly mark the two shafts so they go back together " in phase" or some bad vibrations will show up...
i can fix broken, but i cant fix stupid...
