I have a '93 chevy cheyene pickup automatic 1500 4 wheel drive. it changes and everything just fine but there is noise when torqueing up from from low to high kinda like a power steering pump sounds when dry. when it changes into high the noise stops. untill it down shifts then it starts again. it don't affect the workings of it just kinda annoying untill you get used to it. any ideas of what it might be?

Never ran into this problem but it sounds like you may have a torque convertor problem and when it finally locks up the noise quits.

Does this happen in both 4 wheel drive and 2 wheel drive?
I don't really have an answer, but I doubt it's the converter, because the noise is still there in third gear, when the tcc would lock up, and goes away when in 4th gear.....to verify, just drive the vehicle in D3, and wait for the lockup to occur.....if it does and you have the noise but not in fourth, then it's not the converter...
