Looking for info for a brake problem on a 1990 Ford mustang convert. 5.0. I replaced brake pads, brake calipers, master cyclndr (or power booster what ever). Bleed brakes all seems to be fine but brake pedal is very hard and it barely stops. Any ideas what could be the cause?

Check the vaccume line going to the brake booster & make
sure that vaccume is getting to the booster.

Was all the parts changed to try to fix the hard brake
problem?
Was the master cyclinder or the brake booster changed. They are
2 different parts.

Take care

mustang1,

Welcome to the forum. A happy and healthy New Year.

(Quote) master cyclndr (or power booster what ever).

With all due respect you must be kidding. ohmy.gif

The master cylinder and power booster are two completely different parts. ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

Which one did you change???

What was you're original problem???

Why did you change so many parts???

Throwing money and parts at an issue is the wrong (most expensive) route to take to fix a problem!!!!

Yeah, replace the brake pads and rotors if they're worn beyond specs, replace the calipers if they're leaking. But don't go around replacing all those parts for a hard brake pedal! Come see us first! smile.gif

BTW: Nice ride, I had a '91 Mustang GT convertible, chrome pony wheels and a Borla exhaust. Too bad it was an automatic, and even worse was that a bunch of kids stole it and drove it into a telephone pole. sad.gif

Sounds like a power brake booster problem. If you have plenty of vacuum to the booster and have a stiff, hard to push brake pedal, most likely a bad booster.
